Strong People   Strong Families  Strong Communities

Rob Mackenzie and Jean McPheeters

Last night one of your neighbors, who needed emergency care for an infection but lacked health insurance, was able to fill her prescription for antibiotics—because of United Way of Tompkins County. Every year we hear hundreds of similar stories. That’s because through forty-three member organizations, United Way of Tompkins County touches almost every one of us, our families, and friends. And financially, it’s a great deal, so much of this work happens through volunteers; every dollar goes a long way.

But raising $2,000,000 this year will only happen if we all pitch in. It’s because of everyone’s generosity that adults can learn to read, teens that are homeless get job skills training, a rural mother and child can get to the doctor, and retired persons can get the healthcare they need at home.

Your gift of $1 a week or more will bring summer programs to children at community centers throughout Tompkins County and meals to seniors who are homebound. But, most importantly, your contribution will make this a stronger community. So, please consider making a tax-deductible donation to support more than 150, year-round, health and human service programs.

Did you know that if you live outside Tompkins County, but work here, you can direct your gift at work to go back to your home county United Way? Did you know that you can specify a United Way agency where you want your contribution to go—or not go? Did you know that you can direct your funds to specific targeted areas of care like Hunger and Food Security, or Urgent Rx Prescription Program?

United Way of Tompkins County makes it easy to give exactly how you want to and gives you the opportunity to direct your gifts as you choose. By giving through United Way’s Community Care Fund you also know that our dedicated volunteers are working with our local agencies to assess and evaluate programs and to ensure that your gifts are being managed and spent appropriately.

There’s every reason to work together and give together, to help build and support Strong People  Strong Families  Strong Communities. Thank you in advance for your gifts!
