campaign highlightsCommemorating 85 years of service, more than 150 guests attended United Way of Tompkins County’s Campaign Celebration and Volunteer Recognition Event held on Friday, April 20th at the Holiday Inn Ithaca. It was a wonderful celebration held during National Volunteer Week. Volunteers and donors were thanked for their time, efforts, and support. With their dedication, United Way is able to fulfill its mission, which is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of our communities.

The annual year-in-review video was produced by Doug Melens, from Tompkins Trust Company. Gifts were given to Maryanne Banks, 2006 Board Chair, Charles Walcott, 2006 Campaign Chair, Philip McPheron, 2006 & 2007 Allocations Chair, and Susan Murphy, outgoing board member.  In addition, the Allocations volunteers and Campaign Committee members each received a thank you gift.  Board Member Diane Shafer was instrumental in choosing this year's gift for the Campaign Committee Members, which was an image of one of the Ithaca waterfalls donated by Amy Hnatko. Please visit her web site to view additional photographs of the region.  Thank you, Amy, for sharing, your talent!

United Way’s ten Corporate Cornerstone Partners were also recognized. Their corporate gifts are helping to underwrite United Way of Tompkins County’s administrative costs, allowing a greater percentage of the gifts donated by other businesses and individuals to help people improve their lives.
