United Way of Tompkins County has identified Hunger & Food Security and Youth Engagement as targeted program areas to build and connect communities.

Hunger and Food Security initiatives include:

• Nutrition Outreach through Foodnet Meals on Wheels

• BackPack Program in partnership with Food Bank of the Southern Tier and Tompkins County Elementary Schools

• Congregate Meals with Loaves and Fishes and Food Pantry Support

• Community Supported Agriculture Shares through Cooperative Extension and Full Plate Farm Collective

Youth Engagement efforts include:

• Focus on Community Understanding Service (FOCUS) Middle School Program

• Youth and Philanthropy High School Program

• Ithaca College Stone Soup Philanthropy Corps

• Cornell University Human Ecology Leadership Course

• Stephen E. Garner Summers of Service Internship Program, established by Cornell University Students
